COMPOUND BASTING BUTTER!! BUDGET FRIENDLY THANKSGIVING!!

Kicking off November with a new series for a delicious and budge friendly Thanksgiving! We know that this year may be very different for a number of people. We know that there are some who may never have experienced the act of preparing Thanksgiving dinner for themselves or without other family members. We want to make this process go as smoothly as possible by sharing some quick and easy, delicious and economical ways to put a wonderful holiday meal on the table. You can do this! I have your back! No worries, start now and everything is going to be alright!

Starting off with something you can do right now and stow in the freezer! Compound basting butter can be used to slather on your bird prior to roasting to give it an amazing flavor and the crispiest of skin. Use it to sautee the veggies for your homemade or semi homemade stuffing, dressing or whatever it is you love to call it. Use it to dress steamed or roasted veggies just before serving or use as a spread for heated rolls or biscuits, homemade or not. This butter has a great potential and you can have it on hand in a flash!

This starts, as you might imagine, with some softened butter. Make sure you don't soften in the microwave. Let this sit on the counter for a good while before making, this will help the butter to not separate should you accidentally melt it a little by heating it too much. I am whipping this using the paddle attachment on my stand mixer, but you can use a hand mixer or even do this by hand with a whisk or wooden spoon and everything will turn out fine.

Once the butter is nice and creamy add in the seasonings of choice. Today I am flavoring this up to use on our Thanksgiving bird so that includes some of my homemade poultry seasoning, salt, cracked black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, dried parsley, dried thyme, rubbed sage, and ground rosemary. You can add or take away whatever you like. A dash of nutmeg would be excellent as well.

All these get whipped or stirred together and then scraped out onto a parchment paper or plastic wrap. I am using parchment and then folded over and used the flat side of a dough scraper, but you can use something else flat like a ruler to gently put pressure on the butter to form a long. Then just twist the ends and wrap up . Place in the fridge or freezer to set. You can easily make this now for Thanksgiving. Freeze until the day before and transfer to the fridge. Then use in all your savory dishes that require butter.

Super simple and super delicious. A great way to bring your menu together with cohesive flavors. Let me know if you all would enjoy having me make a suggested budget friendly Thanksgiving menu for you along with grocery lists, both main and supplementary for you to use if this is your first time attempting the holiday meal on your own! This is doable. If you are new and want to try, let me help you! I promise it's just about preparation and timing and everyone can do this!

I hope you give this compound basting butter a try for the holidays or anytime and I hope you love it!

Happy Eating!!
