How to Charge More as a Virtual Assistant: Myth Busting the Common Advice

Some of the most common advice I hear, when it comes to a virtual assistant business is to niche or specialize. The idea being that if you have more specialized skills then you can charge more as a virtual assistant.

Did you know that you can charge more as a virtual assistant without finding the elusive niche or that specific thing you are supposed to be special at?

I've been a virtual assistant for almost 10 years, and I have 6 kids, 2-16, and I homeschool them all. I have lots of big ideas, but one idea is to create a course to go along with the Mom Boss 2.0 workbook. So I've been a lot of research because, if you read the recent post, you know I love to research.

In my research, I have once again encountered the advice that you need to niche down. One of the reasons given is so you can charge more as a virtual assistant. While on the surface these seems like good advice, I want to challenge it.
