Inhabits tropical and subtropical grasslands and deserts with sparse trees. Some also live near the coast, hiding during the day in dense brush, taller grass, and rock crevices. Hyenas live in groups, with a group ranging from dozens to as small as a dozen. It likes to hunt at night, and can chase zebras or wildebeests running at a speed of 40 kilometers per hour at a speed of 65 kilometers per hour. Spotted hyenas can hunt alone, in pairs, or in groups of three, or in groups.
