Study 1 Thessalonians 4, 1 Corinthians 15, and Matthew 24 carefully. The pre-trib rapture is nowhere to be found.

I grew up as a dispensational, and was committed to this way of thinking. However, the more I studied my Bible, the harder it become for me to hold to these teachings. The first part of dispensationalism to slip away from me was this pre-trib rapture. I could not reconcile the idea of it with what scripture presented. As I studied history more, I found that the vast majority of church history did not hold to it either. It wasn't until the 1800's that this theology took over evangelical Christianity by storm.

Let the word of God give you theology. Don't import your theology into the text.
