November Coho And King Salmon Fishing / How To Cure Salmon Eggs / Lamiglas X11 First Impressions

In this Michigan fishing video I am out chasing salmon trout and steelhead. I thought the salmon action was basically over then some things happened and I started seeing zombie king salmon and fresh coho salmon in the river. Jason got 2 coho salmon this November of 2020. One on the steelhead slammer spinner and the other on Skein under a bobber. Jason finally caught a big fish on his Lamiglas X11 float rod which I recommended he buy for salmon and steelhead fishing. I first used a Lamiglas X11 rod on a guided steelhead fishing trip with A Grand Addiction Guide Service and I fell in love with it and have wanted one ever since. I actually caught a nice pike with Jason's X11 rod this morning when he ran to the parking lot and his bobber dropped. Jason got another Hen Coho salmon on a separate trip without me while I was at work and gave me the eggs so I decided to show you how to cure salmon eggs with borax o fire egg cure as well as how to cure skein. Have you ever wondered what is a skein? I explain the difference between skein and loose eggs in this video. In the end I foul hook (not on purpose) a zombie king salmon. I was trying to provoke it into biting by twitching a jerk bait in its face and hooked it in the chin. It was fun to get a close look and the fight was slightly better than a bluegill lol. I think I said this last time but this will likely be the last salmon fishing video as the 2020 salmon run is about as done as it can be. That being said I could still totally get more salmon if I tried but I am ready to shift gears and think about steelhead and pike fishing. It was a treat to see Jason catch some nice cohos in November though!

For more Michigan salmon fishing videos make sure to subscribe and enjoy the steelhead videos till next fall! The one thing you can count on from me is fishing videos.

Chinook were introduced in the 1870’s, but they eventually disappeared. In 1966 there was a collective effort from Michigan, New York, Wisconsin and Ontario to reintroduce them. Chinook males generally live for 1-2 years and females from 3-4 years. The mature females are obviously larger. Unlike Chinook in the Pacific Ocean, land locked Chinook stay in water less than 100 feet generally. Pacific Chinook can often be found from 100-200 feet of water, unless they are following the route they took as a smolt. Chinook in the Great Lakes take longer to mature than ocean run Chinook, mostly because of feed sources.

Coho have been in the Great Lake system for around 50 years. They generally spawn in October, as they would in the Pacific Coast. Coho salmon can generally be caught casting from shore until it warms up in June. After that, they head towards the cooler deeper water. Coho can be caught trolling while fishing Chinook and trout since all three feed on the same bait fish.

Reel Michigan Anglers is a personal passion and my gift to fellow fisherman. In the future I hope to do more informational fishing videos and cover different types of fishing all across the great state of Michigan. My goal, time permitting is to fish as many different bodies of water for as many different fish species as I can get try hands on. I am a lansing michigan resident working towards transferring to MSU for Fisheries and wildlife. My goal is to expand operations and bring more educational and entertaining fishing videos to my subscribers. In the meantime you can count on me for the occasional fishing video outlining the the techniques and areas I fish for Bass, Pike, Walleye, Steelhead, Salmon, Trout, Carp, Suckers, Catfish and Panfish ect. You can see additional videos and other fun fishing related info on my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?... I Wouldn't be the fisherman I am today without other fisherman who taught me the things I know and I am a firm believer that the sport and conservation of fishing in Michigan is better when we share it with one another. Wether your trying to lean a new spot to fish, a new crank bait to try, advise on what fishing rod to use, what fishing line to use, what color spinner a coho likes, what color jig a steelhead prefers, how to rig live bait, match the hatch, understand fish migration, the effects of barometric pressure or any other aspect of fishing the best way to learn is from other fisherman. That combined with trial and error and pure time spent on the water is the key to improving your fishing game. The better you get the more fun it is and the more we share the fun with others the more future generations will benefit from it.
