Gunshots heard as new clashes happen in Kazakh largest city. Dozens of protesters and law enforcement officers are killed in the unrest that's sweeping the nation. The Kazakh government has asked its allies to send in peacekeepers. Washington's skepticism comes despite the request having been made to a regional military bloc to which Kazakhstan belongs and which entitles members to call-in help. A year on from the US Capitol Hill riots, the US seems more divided still with Republicans, outraged by vice-president Kamala Harris, comparing the events of January 6 to the 9/11 attacks, and the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
