• Constitutional Tribunal rules that articles of the European Union treaties are in violation of the Polish constitution

• Government seeks to provide reassurance of Poland’s continued commitment to the EU in the face of foreign and domestic criticism of the ruling

• a permanent border wall is to be erected on the eastern frontier with Belarus to combat the migrant influx, and
