Born in 1975, Fan had a troubled life growing up. She was abandoned by her family whilst she was only a child and she ended up living at Ma Tau Wai girls home – a refuge for girls but also a detention centre, as far as I understand.
Fan became addicted to drugs at quite a young age, she was around 16 and to pay for her addiction habits she would prostitute herself in brothels and nightclubs.
In 1996 Fan married and she gave birth to a son. She almost touched happiness, but her relationship wasn’t the best. Both her and her husband were drug addicts and the neighbours often complained of hearing domestic abuse in the house.
In 1997 , 23 year old Fan met 34 year old Chan- Man -Yok at the romance villa in Kowloon, one of the brothels she worked at.
Chan was a known drug lord, gang affiliate and a triad leader.
