Theodore Roosevelt - Progressive covenant with the people

When running as the third-party Progressive (Bull Moose) candidate for president of the United States in 1912, Theodore Roosevelt recorded a number of campaign speeches. Represented here are all of the cylinder recordings he made for the Edison Company in August of 1912. (The next month he recorded five 78 r.p.m. disc sides for the Victor Talking Machine Company.) Rival presidential candidates Woodrow Wilson and then-President William Howard Taft also recorded 1912 campaign speeches, but only for Victor. Theodore Roosevelt's recorded 1912 campaign speeches are the only sound recordings he made that were intended for commercial release.
