1910 | Fire Destroys 16 Blocks in Lake Charles | Louisiana History

One a lazy Saturday afternoon in April 1910, a small fire broke out behind the old opera house in Lake Charles. Fueled by high winds and old wooden buildings, the fire spread quickly through the streets of downtown Lake Charles destroying over 100 buildings and 16 blocks.
