This week on Sunday Longplay, we're continuing a celebration of another Nintendo milestone! While Nintendo is going all-out with the celebration of Mario's 35th anniversary, F-Zero also has its 30th anniversary this year! So for the occasion I'm dedicating the rest of my Sunday Longplays for the year to F-Zero ROM hacks while I also continue celebrating Mario's 35th with my daily Super Mario Bros. 35 videos every night until the game goes offline March 31. This hack is another one from the creator of such great hacks as F-Zero: Mute City Mayhem and F-Zero: Interstellar Circuit! Welcome to F-Zero: XXL Challenge!

This is one of HeavyMetalRocker's earlier hacks, immediately succeeding the aforementioned Mute City Mayhem, and has both the shortest F-Zero track and the second-longest F-Zero track I've ever played! Though most of the tracks are pretty short (Port Town 1 is the first hacked track that I was able to finish in less than a minute), Mute City 3 and Fire Field in the King League definitely fit the XXL bill! Fire Field ranks second on my list of the longest F-Zero tracks I've ever played falling just 9 seconds short of Mute City Mayhem's Mute City 3! There are also some very intricate turns and obstacles to provide a decent challenge (that icy section in Sand Ocean tripped me up so many times!), and I appreciate how the Death Wind tracks in this hack aren't insanely evil like other hack creators love to make them (Burakki immediately comes to mind!). Overall, another hit from HMR, although not quite up there with Interstellar Circuit.
