Australian Nationalists and the 2022 Election Result
The result of the federal election tell us quite a lot. First up, Labor’s victory was the result of the two-party preferred system and its preferences. But it also tells us that Australians are sick of the Westminster two-party-preferred system and its preferences. This is ironic. That’s not to suggest that voting outside of the paradigm would change the system. The truth is that both major parties’ primaries experienced a shellacking. Preferences delivered Labor’s victory: none of it was a win for the Australian people. Thomas Sowell said that politicans have only two major concerns: getting elected and staying elected. You can imagine how far down the line your interests are from them. NAB’s Nathan Sykes asked AFP President Dr. Jim Saleam what all of this signifies.
