Putin ordered Shoigu to cancel the assault on the Azovstal plant in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol.

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Shoigu reported to Putin:
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the People's Militia of the Donetsk People's Republic liberated the city of Mariupol. The remnants of the formation of Ukrainian nationalists took refuge in the industrial zone of the Azovstal plant.
At the time of the encirclement on March 11, the total number of troops of Ukraine and nationalist formations, as well as foreign mercenaries, was more than 8100 people.
During the liberation of the city, more than four thousand militants were destroyed by the Russian army. 1478 Ukrainian militants surrendered. The remaining group, more than two thousand militants, is blocked by Russian troops in the industrial zone of the Azovstal plant.
