Poet in a Modern World is a 16 mm feature film following an art instructor’s yearning for the past and his pupil’s disquietude for the future in the midst of modernity’s spiritual desert. It is a story about family, home, tradition, and choosing beauty in a world defying it.

Writer-director William Jacobs has turned to Indiegogo to create his debut feature film instead of being subservient to any studio, organization, or producer. Considering how antithetical Poet in a Modern World is to what is deemed a commercially-viable model for movies today, and how opposed the project is to pop culture, the creators behind Poet in a Modern World are giving moviegoers themselves the ability to help bring a film that would otherwise never be made into existence.
