Trolling Saint Pete Beach for Bonito Tuna and Mackerel

The fall season in the Tampa Bay Saint Pete Beach area provides good opportunities for trolling. Species such as Bonito (little tunny tuna), blackfin tuna, spanish mackerel, and king mackerel are abundant. On this trip we got into a few schools of spanish mackerel and little tunny bonito. The bonito is a hard fighting and powerful fish that is agressive and easy tocatch. Using @Yo-Zuri crystal minnow diving minnows, we trolled anywhere from 200 yards offshore to several miles out. Looking for signs like diving birds hoving over schools of baitfish was key to our trolling strategy.
