Firewire Dominator 2 by Mannkine Review

Dan Mann has redesigned the ever so popular Dominator by changing the tail to a squash, pulling in the tail with a small hip right in front of the front fins, changing the concave by adding a slight double to v out the back, and thinning the rail slightly.

I'm reviewing the board in the surf conditions at my home break and trying out some different fins. The board I'm reviewing is 5'4 X 19 3/8 X 2 1/4 and comes in at 25.9 Liters. I'm 5'8 and 145 lbs. I should add that I'm also 50 years old and less than a month away from turning 51.

The board also does not have the new helium paint scheme. If you were wondering why that did this, I think it is because the wooden rails soak up the white paint over time and it fades. I have several other helium boards and the ones that spend more time out in the sun are showing more of the wood through the white paint. I think the black rails will hide that better.
