Genesis 41:54-57
Take a walk with Lighthouse Baptist Church in Utica through a verse by verse steps of Genesis!

Vs. 54 - "And the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth had said: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread."
* Dearth = A scarcity or lack of something, famine, an inadequate supply.
* Famines were a common problem in this region as well as in Canaan and kings tried to establish some sort of plan to alleviate the problem.
* However this famine was greater than most.
* This famine was in Arabia, Palestine, Ethiopia, and the Upper regions of Africa.

Vs. 55 - " And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, Go to Joseph; what he saith to you, do."
* The famine led to the people becoming famished.
*Most people are not prepared to survive for more than a couple of weeks.
*A picture of God the Father telling His people what does Jesus tell you to do; do it.
*Man comes to God for the answers, and God tells those people, "What would Jesus have you do?"
*We place so much importance on the physical things, that we forget the spiritual thins.

Vs. 56 - "And the famine was over all the face of the earth: and Jospeh opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore int he land of Egypt."
* Joseph remained on the front lines even when life became difficult. He was sold to the Egyptians first, because the people were paraded as partners, the people participated int he plan, and the people perceived the provisions.

Vs. 57 - "And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands."
* People from around the world heard about the precious resources that Egypt had and were willing to do anything to receive it.
