Sermon Title: “Biblical Church Growth”
Sermon Text: 1 Corinthians 3:1-8
Sermon Outline:
1. A Rebuke of Spiritual Infancy in the Church. (1 Cor 3:1-4)
• Infants in Christ can’t see beyond their own desires and glory (verses 1-2).
• Infants in Christ stir up strife and jealousy with other believers (verses 3-4).
2. The Need for Spiritual Maturity in the Church. (1 Cor 3:5-8)
Four Principles for Biblical Church Growth:
• God has assigned believers as servants not saviors in the church (verse 5).
• We must work the ground using the ordinary means that God has provided (verse 6a).
• Only God can give genuine growth and only God should receive glory for doing so (verse 6b-7).
• God will honor the faithfulness of farmers who continue to plow (verse 8).
