God’s Re-sets

Throughout history, God has had to have many re-sets. He starts over many times as seen in the examples of Noah and the Great Flood, the Tower of Babel, and Sodom and Gomorrah (although this was a more localized re-set). Even before Adam and Eve, there was a re-set when God created order out of disorder; the Earth being formless and void. (Genesis 1:1-2) The first thing He did was to separate the light from darkness. (Genesis 1:3-4) In the dark chaotic days that we live in, humanity is in a mess, and many believers have become stagnant and lukewarm. Just as His Spirit hovered over the Earth in the beginning, His Spirit is calling us personally on an individual level to a Spiritual re-set. As can be seen throughout Israel’s history, when iniquity abounded and God’s people disobeyed His voice, God allowed their enemies to judge them. Likewise, God allows judgement in modern times on a global scale to call His people back to a state of repentance. (Psalm 126:5… “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.”) Yosef (Rami) uses the examples of Abraham and Jacob who left everything they knew to be completely dependent on God. As sojourners in this world, we must also be willing to come out of our comfort zones and surrender all and trust in Him. Times of affliction give us the opportunity to get rid of anything that’s not godly, and to focus on the things that are eternal.

VERSES: Psalm 126; Genesis 1:1-3; John 12; Jeremiah 7
