This week on Sunday Longplay, my celebration of F-Zero's 30th anniversary continues with another set of custom-made tracks! This is another hack by the creator of the previous hack I played last week. Welcome to F-Zero: A New Beginning!

Like Interstellar Circuit before it, this is another one of HMR's hacks that really caught my attention, and another one he touted as one of his best. After playing it, I can agree 100%. I think I do like Interstellar Circuit better overall, but this one is up there and there are things this hack does better. HMR pointed out in last week's longplay of The Secret Master Tracks that one of the tracks he made for that hack was a recreation of the Jacarepagua racing circuit in Brazil. This hack also features a recreation of another real-life Formula One race track, with Sand Ocean being a replica of Suzuka Circuit in Japan, which honestly plays better than either of the Formula Zero versions I played. I also love how Red Canyon 2 pays homages to its roots in the original F-Zero, with a twist on the arrow jump out of the starting line, the zig-zag jumps, and the section with the jagged guardrails at the end. I also appreciate how Death Wind 2 didn't go overboard with the hairpins allowing you to get more speed out of the boost arrows (honestly, Death Wind 1 gave me more trouble), and Fire Field is still as epic of a finale as ever, rivaling the length of the finales of other amazing hacks like Alternate Strike or Interstellar Circuit. You knocked it out of the park again, HMR!
