Tennis Without A Racket: Body Hitting

The body receives power from the ground. The feet, legs, and hips transfer this power to the upper body via the body's core, i.e., waist, abdomen, etc. A player's arm weighs less than a player's leg, but new player's and even some intermediate to advanced players only use the power in their arms to generate groundstrokes. A larger mass that is accelerated at the same speed as a smaller mass provides more power at collision. A fast-moving hip and leg are more powerful than a fast moving arm when it comes to transferring power into a tennis ball.

It is mandatory in this course that the body, hips, and legs, control the arm. During the learning process, the hips and the legs will be

responsible for how fast the arm moves. The arm through most of the tennis stroke will be dependent on the movement of the body.
