Epic Battle Fantasy 3 (Epic Mode) - Part 9: Out of the Frying Pan... (Protector Boss Fight)

With the puzzle solved and the door to the next area opened, it's now time for our next boss fight! The Protector is a pretty crazy boss. It summons runes of all elements (fire, ice, lightning, holy, dark) which you'll want to focus on first (especially the holy ones since they can heal and buff the boss). The Protector will summon them back after a while, but the fewer targets on screen at once, the better. Lance's Air Strike is your best friend in this fight, so be sure to fully upgrade it. You may also want to fully upgrade Lance's starting armor for bomb resistance to defend against any kamikaze attacks from the runes and also to randomly summon medipacks. It's also weak against Lightning (though not in later games), so Matt's lightning sword also helps. Natalie is the designated healer/buffer with her Kyun limit break and her Slime Bunny summon. Auto-Revive may also help in this fight, especially against the Protector's Charge Beam attack. I didn't realize this until after I recorded this episode, but the Charge Beam is a lightning-elemental attack, so if you still get destroyed even after having a buff from Kyun in effect and dispelling the Protector's special attack buff he gets when he charges up, added lightning resistance may help.
