Loving My Children while Hating Them
Do you sometimes feel unworthy of love, God's love, or the love of other people?

Hello, I'm Clarence, I'm the preacher. If you feel unworthy at times, then you are perfectly human. We all have these feeling, so let's delve into this issue starting right now.
The first reason you have feelings of being unworthy is because we are. I don't want that to sound mean or uncaring, it's just the fact that we are all guilty of sin, (Romans 3:23). Most of us are guilty of far more sins that we want other people to know about. So, when you are feeling unworthy, quietly remind yourself that you are no worthy.
When you have those moments of feeling unworthy, perhaps reminding yourself of James 3:2, would be helpful. James reminds Christians that we stumble in many things. We are not perfect and we will not be absolutely, flawlessly perfect, in this life. It's ok. When God created us, He knew this ahead of time, and created us anyway.
If you are a parent, think of it this way. When you decided to have children, you knew ahead of time that they would not be perfect, right. You knew ahead of time that there would be days when you would want to pull your hair out because they would be so exasperating. You knew that when they hit the teen years, things were going to be really tough at times, right, but you had children anyway, even though you knew they would be a problem. In fact, you love your children so much that in some ways you think they are perfect, even though they are not literally perfect.
Now, if you can have that kind of love for an imperfect, noisy, disruptive child, then God, being greater than us, can have great and awesome love for you, too. I did not say you were worthy of his love, but I am saying that in your imperfection, you are the recipient of his love (John 3:16).
Our problem is not that God doesn't love us. Our problem tends to be that we don't believe that God loves us. Ironically, we are in an ocean of God's love, yet feeling unloved. It's part of being human.
Sometimes we feel unworthy because we are not perfect for the journey ahead on the straight and narrow road. Again, that's right. When we convert to Christianity, that is just the start we have a lot to learn. We start as spiritual babies; we have a lot to learn (1 Peter 2:2). It's ok to be a baby in Christ. A baby is not unworthy, but loved, adored, and learning. Being a baby in Christ is just a stage of training and you will always be in training.
Christians that excel learn to be comfortable being finite, limited humans. I'm not condoning sin. We keep aiming to be better. When we stumble into sin we repent, learn, and grow. The thing I want you to do is accept yourself in Christ as God accepts you.
