While deployed non the 24 MEU, Gunner Callen aided the first Battalion Eight Marines in Theater Security Exercises throughout Europe and the Middle Ease eventually participating in Operation Freedom Sentinel in Afghanistan. Callen has earned multiple awards and honors including the Bronze Star Medal and the Hulbert Trophy for Outstanding Leadership.
