According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 420,000 people die each year from poor-quality food. Six hundred million are affected, with children under five at the greatest risk. They account for 40% of all poisonings.

To draw attention to the problems of healthy feeding, the UN General Assembly proclaimed June 7 as World Food Safety Day.
