Donbass Under Fire Looking for a Lost Mother

‘We can’t reach her. We’ve been told she’s hiding in a cellar with neighbours, but we haven’t seen her’. For almost a month, Viktoria Forkavets did not know what had happened to her mother, Natalya. All she knew was that her mom was in Volnovakha, where there was no water, food, light or gas. The woman’s chances of staying alive were dwindling with each passing day.

Viktoria wrote to us about her distress and went to Volnovakha with the RT Documentary team. It turned out that Natalya was alive! Like others in the town, she had been hiding in a basement from Ukrainian army shelling.

Viktoria took her mother to her home in Khartsyzsk. And now she can cuddle her granddaughter again. We filmed this story in March and included it in our film Donbass Under Fire. Find there stories of relatives who found each other.
