This week on Sunday Longplay, my celebration of F-Zero's 30th anniversary continues with another set of custom-made tracks! This is another hack by the creator of the previous hack I played last week. Welcome to F-Zero: Perilous Planets!

Despite its name, these tracks aren't all that perilous, at least no more perilous than most other hacks, though there are some sections that can trip you up, like the minefields after the early hairpin in Port Town, or the turning jump in Mute City 2 and 3 and White Land 2. Follow those arrows! I also love how the boost arrow just before the start/finish line in the Death Wind tracks allows for one of the snail cars to hit it and give you a massive rocket boost right out of the gate! This is also one of those rare hacks that doesn't have Fire Field as the finale, which is probably a good thing because this version has probably the easiest Fire Field custom track I've ever played. Not bad, just easy, though I do like the reprise of the OG Red Canyon 2 arrow jump. Silence is the finale this time, and it is worthy of that spot and this hack's name, working as a final exam with every hazard the previous tracks threw at you rolled into one: a series of crooked jumps with magnets underneath that will pull you to your death if you hit them in the wrong spot ending with a midair turn, a minefield with magnets pulling you into the mines, followed by an icy hairpin, then a three-turn minefield, then a section of the track narrow enough for only one car (which is why I like to use my turbo boosts in that section so I won't lose speed hitting the rails trying to pass snail cars on the road). The overall difficulty doesn't exactly match the hack's name overall, but a game doesn't have to be insanely hard to be fun, and this is still a very fun hack!
