INTERVIEW: Brian Peckford on cancel culture, legal challenge against travel mandates in Canada

The rest of the world may be moving on from COVID mandates and travel restrictions on the unvaxxed, but our government remains fully committed to the pandemic narrative.
Despite the cheerleading from establishment political parties and the mainstream media, those restrictions have been repeatedly denounced as an infringement on our Charter rights.
So much so that even the biggest COVID hardliners are starting to have second thoughts about the lengths our elected officials will go to enforce a two-tiered society based on personal health decisions.
Someone who may know a thing or two about our Charter rights is Brian Peckford, former premier of Newfoundland and the last living first minister to have helped write Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Mr. Peckford was one of the keynote speakers at the Reclaiming Canada Conference that recently took place in Victoria, British Columbia.
During my time covering the event, Mr. Peckford sat down with me for an in-depth interview to discuss a host of topics, including what inspired him to launch a groundbreaking lawsuit with the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms against the government’s abusive COVID-19 travel restrictions.
Mr. Peckford’s lawsuit is scheduled for a hearing in the Federal Court of Canada in September. Support has been growing for this lawsuit, and he’s ready to take the case all the way to the Supreme Court.
As Mr. Peckford points out, places like New Zealand, India, and Portugal have seen the government back down to similar legal fights against the state’s attempts to dismantle civil liberties.
We’ll watch Mr. Peckford’s case with keen interest and look forward to covering the proceedings.
