In Matthew 10:37-38, the Son of the living God, Jesus Christ, says, He that loveth father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after Me, is not worthy of Me.

Christ also adds in Matthew 16:24, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

We are to put our faith in Christ and deny ourselves. We are to die to self: to reject temptation that leads to sin, to reject worldliness and to put Christ and His word first in all things.

True faith in Christ leads to obedience to Him and His holy law.
