The Seeds of Establishing Israel as a Nation and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflicts

The final trigger that lead to the significant migration of Jews, after nearly 2000 years, back to the traditionally understood area of the Holy Land, was the Balfour Declaration of 1917, critical to the ending of WWI. However, the essential ingredient to the implementation of Balfour was the creation of the Mandate System, ratified by the League of Nations and later supported by the United Nations post WWII. Unfortunately, the mishandling, intentional or not, of those agreements has left a legacy of continuing conflicts in Palestine.
