WHAT IS MONKEYPOX?
• It’s NOT just a virus of monkeys, it infects a variety of rodents also. The virus was named as such because in 1958 it was first discovered in a group of monkeys. It’s a virus that’s indigenous to Africa. It’s been infecting humans in Africa for many years.

CONTAGIOUSNESS and FATALITY
• We know very little about the virus because it’s SO RARE that people get infected and have significant disease.
• This is NOT a major pathogens of human. It is NOT highly infectious and is NEVER been considered a major clinical problem

QOUTABLE:

“We didn’t have a major outbreak (of monkeypox). I don’t recall there have been any deaths if there were that was very, very few”

“We don’t have to live fear and we should be very careful to keep from allowing others to weaponized fear as a way to control or manipulate us”
