Walmart Juneteenth Wine and Ice-cream. Why was this a thing...

Walmart had the bright idea to come out with some special products to promote Juneteenth. The products were ice-cream and wine with African colors and the African continent on them. How did something like this get past the PR team because they faced a strong backlash which resulted in Walmart immediately discontinuing the products.
