A 24 acres hilly rock, located in Veliyam grama panchayat, Maruthimala bestows one with a pleasant atmosphere with its scenic beauty and cool gentle breeze. One can also see a shrine up there along with a small pond. The temple celebrates festivals during the months of December and January.

Legend says that this hillock was formed from a portion that had fallen from the hands of Lord Maruthi (legendary figure from the epic Ramayan) while he carried the sacred mountain Rishabhadri to Lanka. Since it fell from the hands of Maruthi, the place got the name ‘Maruthimala’.

Small cascades such as Kalladathanni Vattathikkadavu Waterfall (Vattathilthangal River) can also be seen in the environs. Ithikkara River by setting a perfect backdrop enhances the beauty of this serene place.
