Child in Time is a composition by the British rock band Deep Purple, one of the most famous and recognizable songs of the group and one of the very first compositions written as part of "Mark II" (all five members of Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord and Pace are listed on the record as its authors).

"Child in Time" was included in the album Deep Purple in Rock (the third track on the first side of the record, lasting more than ten minutes), released in June 1970. Previously, she has been performed many times at concerts, including included in the expanded edition of Concerto for Group and Orchestra, recorded by Deep Purple with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in September 1969.

In 1972, in some countries (for example, Belgium and the Netherlands), "Child in Time" was released as a single. Due to the fact that this song takes more than ten minutes, it had to be divided into two parts on the singles.
Interesting fact: Blackmore, who usually played on a Fender Stratocaster, used a Gibson ES-335 to work on the studio version of the song.
