Why Do People Believe Conspiracy Theories? Conspiracy theories have always been popular, but in recent years they seem to be more prevalent than ever. Perhaps this is due to the fact that people are increasingly distrustful of the government and other institutions. Or maybe it's because the internet has given everyone a platform to share their ideas, no matter how far-fetched they may be. Whatever the reason, there are a few factors that tend to make people more likely to believe in conspiracy theories. First, people feel the media and others who should shine a light on nefarious actions, don't. Second, people who are mistrustful of authority figures are also more likely to believe that these figures are hiding something from the public. Finally, due to a lack of reliable information, people are often drawn to conspiracy theories because they provide simple answers to complex problems. Whatever the reasons, it's clear that conspiracy theories aren't going away anytime soon and not until they stop being proven true.
