Catholicism and Marijuana Part V explores the origin of modernity's drug crisis according to Joseph Ratzinger. Ratzinger argues that the distinction between the world of facts and the world of feelings such that morality, religion, and beauty are subjectivized. This unfortunate distinction gives rise to drugs, terrorism, abortion and euthanasia, for in making this distinction its proponents separate morality from Being and make it a project of the future.
