US Army's New Sig M5 Rifle Is An Absurd Boondoggle

There is no way to justify the Sig MCX Spear's $7999 msrp other than a blatant attempt to fleece the American tax payer. This "new" rifle is based on technology from the 1960's. The only innovation here is the cartridge it fires, not the rifle itself. It is mechanically no more advanced or capable than a rifle than costs less than $1600. The US military needs its budget slashed, NOW! They are almost certainly overpaying like this for almost every piece of equipment they purchase.
