He is often described as a clean Denis Leary.
His comedic influences include Denis Leary, Steve Martin, George Carlin, Bill Cosby, Robin Williams, Sam Kinison and Bill Hicks.
He is an observational comedian and his material targets liberals, humanists, political correctness and judgmental Christians.
The subject matter in his acts include everyday life, politics and religion.
He is the author of two books: "Being a Christian Without Being an Idiot" (2004) and "Live From Middle America: Rants from a Red-State Comedian" (2006).
He lives in Brentwood Tennessee with his wife Desiree and their two children.
Originally from northern Indiana.
His parents divorced when he was 8 years old, they later remarried and moved to California, only to divorce again.
He has been profiled in several mainstream media outlets, including The New York Times, New York Magazine, CNN and Good Morning America (1975).
