Leupold Delta Point Micro - The Smallest Handgun Red Dot in World?

This is the Leupold Deltapoint Micro. A new micro handgun red dot by Leupold.
I know what you're thinking because I thought the same thing the first time I saw the Delta Point Micro, "How the hell am I supposed to see anything through that little window?
Then I shot with it and realized that what it is lacking in window size, is compensated for in its Low height to bore.
The Delta Point Micro sits really low on the slide and not just compared to other red dots but in general, it essentially mimics the same sight plane as iron sights.
So instead of adjusting to try and find the dot, just shoot it as if you were trying to use iron sights and the red dot just falls into place.
Usually, this is the part where I saw there is a bit of a learning curve, but if you're used to shooting iron sights, there really isn't a learning curve per say, just shoot it like it's your rear iron sight.
The delta point micro takes a CR 1632 battery and has a constant run time of 3.5 years with the illumination at level 4.
If you have the illumination above 4 it has a sleep mode, that turns the optic off when it's been at rest for several minutes.
It will turn on automatically when you pick it up and if your battery happens to die, there are two milled holes on the back of the sight that you can use to align your front sight, so it doesn't just replace your rear sight, it is your rear sight.
The tail of the Delta Point Micro as I've come to call it is where you adjust the brightness and is also where the battery compartment is. Just twist the cap off to change the battery.
All of the critical parts of the optic live inside of the housing which protects it from moister, dirt and debris.
The delta point pro is one of my favorite reflex sight, but I'll admit that one of its strongest attributes, it's big window, also hurts it when it comes to small, compact form factor.
On full size guns this isn't a big problem but things can get a little tight in my pants when running a delta point pro on my carry guns.
So I welcome the sleek low profile of the the delta point micro because it fits perfect with more concealed carry focused guns like this Glock 48 without adding a lot of bulk.
Shooting with the delta point micro is reassuringly intuitive when I'm not trying to shoot it like I shoot other red dots and shoot it like I'm shooting iron sights. When I do this everything kind of just falls into place.
I like the big window of the Delta Point Pro, it's really comforting, but shooting with the Delta Point Pro vs the Delta Point Micro didn't leave me drastically wanting to run back to the delta point pro, but as intuitive as the Delta Point Micro is the window size is clearly limiting compared to the Delta Point Pro.
I could be wrong, but I don't think the Delta Point Micro is trying to compete with the likes of the Delta Point Pro. It's extremely focused on concealed carry. Sure I could carry a full-sized gun every day If I really wanted to, but i don't really want to I rather carry a smaller more convenient gun that has minimal tradeoffs and that's what the Delta Point Micro is, it's a compact red dot for people who like the idea of having a red dot on their handgun but don't want the type of weight and footprint that you get with a full-sized red dot.
At 399, I think the Delta point micro sits at a good price point for what you get but right now It's only available for non-mos Glocks and Smith and Wesson M&P models.
The Delta Point Micro is an innovative evolution of the reflex sight on handguns. The innovation is in the form factor more than it is in the actual function.
At the end of the day, all it's doing is projecting a red laser on a piece of glass but much like hard drives, portable speakers, and cell phones, the technology isn't so much the wow factor anymore it's how the technologies size has become so small that it becomes effortlessly mobile and thus fits seamlessly into our lives.
