In her personal life as well as her practice as a psychologist, Dr. Mary Lamia, has become very familiar with loss. She lost her mother in childhood, at the age of 11; her father in young adulthood, 10 years later; and her husband of 44 years in 2021, as she was completing her most recent book—on grief. In GRIEF ISN’T SOMETHING TO GET OVER: Finding a Home for Memories and Emotions After Losing a Loved One.
Dr. Lamia firmly believes. “However, we are not doomed to a lifetime of suffering from our losses. Grief has a rich meaning.” Combining psychological insights with numerous case examples from her work with grieving clients and her own experiences, Dr. Lamia illustrates how loved ones who have died are always alive within us—regardless of spiritual beliefs.
For nearly a decade, she hosted a weekly call-in talk show, KidTalk with Dr. Mary, on Radio Disney stations. https://marylamia.com
