With everything that is going on today in D.C. I am just going to put this right here. You can unfriend me if you want to, you can hate me if you want to. I am just posting the facts that are in OUR Constitution!! The Declaration of Independence Says We Have the Right to Overthrow the Government!
Can you overturn the Government?
The Declaration of Independence Says We Have the Right to Overthrow the Government. The Declaration of Independence says that we not only have the right but we also have the duty to alter or abolish any government that does not secure our unalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
In political philosophy, the right of revolution (or right of rebellion) is the right or duty of the people of a nation to overthrow a government that acts against their common interests and/or threatens the safety of the people without cause.
What is it called when you try to overthrow the government?
A coup or coup d'état (/ˌkuː deɪˈtɑː/ listen (help. · info); French: [ku deta], literally "blow of state"; plural: coups d'état, pronounced like the singular form; also known simply as an overthrow, takeover, or putsch) is the removal of an existing government from power, usually through violent means.
Is overthrowing the government treason?
If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.
Which amendment gives the right to overthrow the government?
First Amendment [Footnote 19] Id. at 170-175 (Justice Douglas dissenting on other grounds), 191 (Justice Brennan and Chief Justice Warren dissenting on other grounds).
Justice Black's dissent on First Amendment grounds argued that ''Congress has [no] power to outlaw an association, group or party either on the ground that it advocates a policy of violent overthrow of the existing Government at some time in the distant future or on the ground that it is ideologically subservient to some foreign country.
