Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Chilean President Gabriel Boric hold a joint news conference in Ottawa following a signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding to advance gender equality in their countries. The president is visiting the nation’s capital during his one-day official visit to Canada, where he and Trudeau discussed shared priorities such as taking climate action, advancing human rights, growing the economy, and strengthening relationships with Indigenous peoples. The two leaders are asked about the U.S.' decision to exclude Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua from the upcoming Summit of the Americas, and about Canada's new proposed gun-control legislation. Trudeau also faces questions about ongoing delays in processing passports. He comments as well on Chinese fighter pilots' interactions with Canadian and Australian aircraft that are part of an United Nations mission in the Asia-Pacific region to enforce sanctions against North Korea.
