Cedric Rucker graduated from the University of Mary Washington with a degree in sociology in 1981. He had a stint at the University of Virginia while obtaining his masters and working in admissions where he fell in love with working in higher education. Shortly after he returned to UMW and became the Dean of Student Life where he has worked for 33 years. Upon his retirement, the University Center will be renamed the Cedric Rucker University Center, cementing his legacy at UMW. He plans on joining the peace corps after his retirement.
