Series 211 - Looking Ahead After Looking Behind

About this video:
I want to tell you a little story and take you back to the Book of Daniel. We’re going to work our way back into Revelation, but we've got to go look behind before we can see ahead. In Daniel chapter 2, Daniel saw a metal man: he saw a head of gold, a chest of silver, thighs of brass, legs of iron, and feet and toes of iron and clay. These represented the kingdoms of man; and as he was watching a great stone came out of the sky and hit the image at its feet and blew it away!

God came to the pagan King and gave him a Revelation that distressed him greatly. It really bothered him badly. When Nebuchadnezzar was given this revelation — evidence that God can talk to anyone he wants to — he was awakened and very disturbed by what he saw. This internal distress was caused by the Holy Spirit. The anxiety and concern of this was all prompted by the same Holy Spirit that tortured the wife of pilot. And what was her torture? She come and told her husband “have nothing to do with this man for I have suffered because of him”... the Holy Spirit is very capable of putting us in a state that is most uncomfortable. I can attest to that in a sense. And if you've ever done anything wrong and you felt guilt about it, you can to.

One of the works of the Holy Spirit is to produce guilt so that we can resolve the problem and find healing and move on. The Holy Spirit tormented this King in the most severe way, and I measure the severity of it by what follows: he called all the wise men together and said “I've dreamed a dream but I can't remember it. Now tell me what I dreamed and interpret it for me.” Well, of course, they realized this was an impossible request. God used a simple dream to fully unmask the cunning sophistry of the wise men of Babylon!
