Myrtle Creek Falls - Hiking North Idaho

Near Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge in north Idaho, within walking distance of the Wildlife Refuge office, you’ll find the Myrtle Creek Falls trailhead. It's just a few hundred yards northwest of the refuge visitor center. From there, an easy trail will take you to an exceptional viewing outlook halfway up the fall's main cascade.

At about 100 feet high, the falls is particularly impressive during spring run-off. A ¼ mile-long trail leads a bridge over Myrtle Creek. The trail is fully accessible up to and including the bridge. The trail becomes primitive past the bridge, leading off Refuge property and onto U.S. Forest Service land. The unimproved observation point for the falls is accessed from the primitive portion of the trail. The trail is not maintained past the bridge and should be used only at your own risk. It is kid friendly, but keep a close watch on them.
