Hand sanding and polishing knife handles

After using a router to establish the basic handle geometry, I use a 2x42 inch belt grinder to sand off the raised areas left by the router, then I move to the 1x42 belt grinder and do some very careful shaping. Then I hand sand. The handle usually can be hand sanded in about two and a half hours. When the hand sanding is finished, it goes the buffer and a nice sheen is buffed into the woods surface.
