Here is just a bit of how much controversy can be around a stupid fish, all be it a HUGE Muskie.
The world record for muskellunge still stands at 69 pounds, 11 ounces and was caught in 1949 on the Chippewa Flowage in northwestern Wisconsin by Louis Spray.
The world record for muskie, or muskellunge, stands at 67 pounds, 8 ounces. That fish was caught at Lake Court Oreilles in Wisconsin in 1949. Cal Johnson’s muskie might never be bested. The skin mount of the fish is still displayed Moccasin Bar in Hayward, Wisconsin.
In 1957, Arthur Lawton claimed to catch a 69-pound 15-ounce muskie while fishing in the St. Lawrence River, breaking Spray’s record by just 4 ounces.
Just to help you see how there is NO DOUBT some real "fish tales" going on here, look at this statement.
The Hayward group has anointed a 69-pound-11-ounce muskie allegedly caught by local legend Louie Spray -- an admitted Chicago gangster.
Now we know that a gangster from Chicago would never do something as deceptive as lying about the size of his fish, right?
There are rumors all over about how big is the "biggest" and who caught the World's Record. Even my pastor friend has a great story of the "big one" that got away and there is no doubt in his mind that it was "the world record". LOL
