Bo Bancroft is the author of a debut novel, Make America
Beautiful Again.
An Ohioan by birth, Bo spent his early years in Cincinnati
before moving to Cleveland and, eventually, Canfield just
outside of Youngstown. It was an era of ‘free range’ child
rearing and he enjoyed countless adventures on Lake Erie,
canoeing on Ohio’s many rivers, and skiing in western New
York. Even to this day, on sunny summer afternoons he
thinks his time would be better spent playing wiffleball.
Bo graduated from Miami University with a degree in
marketing. No one would describe him as a serious student as
he did his best to enjoy the college experience. He met his
future bride at Miami, though they did part ways for a while
after school – Aree got a real job while Bo spent time
meandering the country. After extended stints in Oklahoma, Hawaii, California, and South Carolina, he
visited a friend in Atlanta and, 40 years later, still hasn’t left his adopted city. He and his wife, Aree,
currently live near Decatur, GA and their adult daughter, Aly, resides in Washington, DC.
Bo likes to think he’s bookended his working career with his two best jobs – a dancing bear or elephant at
Disneyland to working for Habitat.
‘Professionally’, it was only natural for Bo to gravitate toward sales, or business development as many
call it today, in an effort to add some prestige to the profession. He was with Turner Broadcasting during
the heady days of cable TV as a member of the team that launched the now familiar networks Headline
News, TNT and TCM. Bo also spent time with Fox launching their cable networks FX and FXM.
Eventually, he transitioned to the technology side of the telecommunications industry where he spent the
majority of his career. He had a great run at Scientific Atlanta before Cisco bought the company and
turned an exciting, family atmosphere-type company into a soulless division. Bo also worked for tech
companies Motorola and Neustar.
For the last several years, Bo has had the privilege of working for Habitat for Humanity International.
The shift from the corporate sector to non-profit has been exhilarating. Affordable Housing is a global
crisis and Habitat’s approach to helping hard working, lower paid people realize the dream of home
ownership is extremely rewarding.
His family and friends remain the most important part of his life. Through joys and achievements,
chronic illness and death, the ones close to him have provided the best balance life can offer. An eclectic
crew of people that keep his mind sharp and spirits up.
Despite his early career with cable networks, Bo would rather keep the video off – with the exception of
baseball. He’s a voracious reader and still participates in a variety of sports when his body is cooperating.
During early weekday morning hours, you’ll find Bo on his daily four to five mile walk with his black
lab, Lula. On most weekends, they’ll head north for a long hike on one of the many Georgia Mountain
trails. For more information, please consult: www.bobancroft.com.
