Turkey doesn't want to be 'Turkey' anymore, a sign nations are returning to their cultural identity

Turkey has requested that the UN refer to it as ‘Türkiye’ from Wednesday. Officials argue that the change will improve the country’s standing on the world stage. Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu posted a photo of himself signing a letter asking UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to officially use the name ‘Türkiye’, which is what the country is called in Turkish.

One could interpret this as a sign nations are returning to their cultural identity instead of embracing the neo-liberal globalism that the west was trying to push.
