A visit with the brumbies, Australian wild horses - under constant threat of eradication

These particular horses are Guy Fawkes Heritage Horses, named after the Guy Fawkes River National Park where they are found and were trapped.
Three of these horses were trapped in the wild, the other is the offspring of two horses that were trapped in the wild, he was born in captivity.
The palomino spend a few years as a wild horse before being trapped. She is wary of people and it's understandable, her first encounter was being trapped in a yard and herded into a truck. Same with the little bay girl, she was about 2 year old when she was trapped, she's a cautious little soul. A lovely horse. They both have lovely natures.
The chestnut, is a 4 yo and was born in captivity and bred by someone who had Guy Fawkes Heritage horses (a type of brumby) that were trapped in the wild.
The little bay pony in the round yard was trapped as a wee foal with his mother. They were both thin, as the people who rehome them asked someone to take him urgently for feeding and I took him. He was smaller than our greyhound. He's so difficult to keep in and we have been using the round yard as a desperate measure the past few days to keep him in while we fix fencing.
An a side note, these horses originated as men who fought in WWI and WWII were called up to fight let their horses out into the bush. Many did not return. The result are horses that are a perfect design for our country. Survival of the fittest at work. They are sure footed, have excellent feet, good doers and eat a range of grasses and leaves. Very resourceful souls.
Our government want to eradicated them, very sad.
